It’s now been three weeks since my  57-year-old son Colin underwent a catastrophic delamination of both ascending and descending branches of his aorta, AND LIVED.

Meanwhile, I noticed myself during the first two weeks or so, being extremely jumpy, shocky, clearly traumatized by the enormity of what Colin and myself, and his brother Sean, who drove to Indiana from Colorado the day after he heard about it, are having to absorb. It’s not short term; it’s long term. And involves paralysis of the legs that may not recede. And even if he does get the use of his legs back (with acupuncture), that won’t be for a couple of years. Which means that the next door house he lives in will have to be outfitted with a ramp and other upgrades  for handicapped people.

But back to my internal state . . . notice that I immediatey segued to one real-world implication of the catastrophe (house renovation); yes, my mind has been both delaminating and racing from the beginning, trying to get hold of the situation in a way that I could begin to learn to accept it.

PTSD big time, for both Sean and myself, and of course, Colin!

But: I’d say that now I have begun to integrate this “new normal,” so that though it still overwhelms at times, mostly it stays in the background, having created a new much more complicated background, one which though still with all sorts of unanswered questions, begins to stabilize, so that I can begin to live “normally,” at least to some extent.

What surprises me is that I HAVE already at least partially integrated Colin’s Catastrophe. Which makes me realize that the human soul and spirit is much more resilient than we expect it to be.

Hell, it’s even time for a meme or two . . .

And geez! While I was gone the transgender nonsense just kept on going!

And that includes the slippery slope slide from the social/political “feminism” I identified with back in the 1970s to . . . COMPLETE DISREGARD OF BIOLOGICAL REALITY that cancels the female half of the human species.

And geez! Here we go again, COVID? Huh?

It will be instructive to discover just what percentage of brainwashed normies refuse to comply this time, and join the rest of us whose common sense never faltered.
