Reaping the Whirlwind into Fields of Gold

Perspective continues to enlarge, and deepen.

I cannot help but think that what I am going through right now is what we are all going through, at various levels of understanding and capacity. The world is changing, drastically; the turbulence is increasing; it’s as if the proverbial rug has been pulled out from under us, and we humans are all caught in a strong, swirling whirlwind. Can we reap wisdom from this sudden and ongoing shift in status, in frequency?

Centering and grounding meditations are essential. These I do daily, as always, plus long early morning walks with puppy Shadow.

Before our walk today I read somewhere that Zen can be boiled down to three statements:

Everything changes.

Everything is connected.

Pay attention.

Yes. This mantra helps me now, to shift my perspective to include the continuously deepening and reverberating three-week old Colin Catastrophe without continuously fussing over how to negotiate the suddenly unknown future.

Thanks to a prior suggestion from healer Laura, a few days ago, before Sean and I left to return to Bloomington from Indy hospital, I suggested to Colin that we listen to Sting’s Fields of Gold.

Immediately, in unison, overflowing tears. Colin grabbed my hand and we clutched there for the entire three minutes and forty six seconds.

Here we are, only three days away from the 22nd anniversary of the event that altered everything forever. Those who could agree to absorb its entirety and remain sane were and remain extremely rare.
