If Victor Davis Hanson carries the elder wisdom we need now, and speaks, as if looking down upon, and shaking his head in horror and compassion, the depths of our current panoramic maelstrom from a vast distance, then Charles Eisenstein, who, as a younger elder-in the-making, and deeply immersed in and aware of the accelerating unravelling of all we once knew and valued, invites intuition to inform him as to how to continuously step aside from the accelerating AI takeover of the human mind.
From Homogeneity and Bedlam to Sense and Sensibility
P.S. I worry though, as to whether Eisenstein will be able to integrate himself into the hyena pack that has become our political process without damage to his soul. He joined RFK Jr.’s campaign, and I saw him sitting behind RFK during the censorship that attended the congressional subcommittee hearing on censorship. At first I didn’t recognize him. But I knew him. Who IS that. (He came and spoke in Bloomington years ago, so I had met him personally.)
Aha! The light dawned. It’s Charles Eisenstein, in disguise! I watched quite a bit of that hearing, riveted by how, despite sitting seemingly relaxed and without moving, Eisenstein’s mouth kept working tensely, as if biting his lip, trying not to scream . . .
Here’s an excerpt from the very enjoyable anthropological substack Eisenstein did on his experience of that hearing.
In this photo, he’s on the left. Notice his mouth . . .
