Happy Halloween?

Last night, it got down to 22° outside. And suddenly, the giant elephant ears, withered!

Same plant, slightly different view of it.

Not only that, but leaves, everywhere! And there’s plenty more still on the trees. Perfect for mulching gardens.

See little Shadow?

Me, this afternoon: “I’ve felt all along, this year, that the trees produced more leaves than usual. And now look, way more leaves that we’re used to seeing, especially all at once.”

Marita: “Hmmm . . . last year was cidadas, right?”

Me: “Yes! Could they be responsible for  increased leaf yield?”

Nature is so very mysterious. And we foolish humans think we can comprehend her. Meanwhile, given what’s “going down” in terms of the continuous global disclosure of more and more all-too-human corruption, to me it feels like every day is Halloween, when all the ghouls come out.
