Hmmm . . . how do faraday cages work?

Because my phone, obediently encased in wrinkled tin foil (see yesterday’s post) functioned more like a tin foil hat . . . with me the fool . . .

I.e., I still got the weird alarm sound and still saw the message when I took the tin foil off.

Trending on X, immediately afterwards, besides #EmergencyAlertSystem . . .

Two Minutes Early

Mea culpa. Wonder what Clif High has to say about this now.

Interesting. I did similar to my phone, and got no signal or texts when I unwrapped it and turned it back on a few hours later. Probably the only difference was I wrapped it in a layer of paper towels & some plastic wrap first, before the several layers of tin foil. This was partially because I did not want a conductive material (foil) directly touching my phone, and partially because the tin foil was from dinner the night before and still had some roast chicken grease on it 🙂

”And you? My teacher looked up, his left eyebrow arched, pencil poised. 'I want to do a paper on the concept of time.’” I mumbled, timidly. 'Time?' He sniffed. “I wouldn’t touch the subject. Too difficult.” — AK, 1967
