Before I begin, let me just note that the world appears to be embarked upon another Cuban Missile Crisis, 59 years, or two cycles of Saturn, later. Have we learned anything? And this time the roles are reversed. Which means: NATO and the US are the ones that have to blink.

Thank you commenter Janice for sending me this essay by Charles Eisenstein. Well worth contemplating, all the way through. I’m reminded of myself, back in the early ’80s, when I finally recognized, with a sudden, shuddering shock, that I had morphed into a righteous, dogmatic, my-way-or-the-highway, and thus violent “peace activist.” A walking contradiction. A joke.

The result: I had to stop everything, and burrow inside. Where did conflict arise within myself? That question led me down the richest/densest rabbit hole I’ve ever fallen into, and resulted, seven years later — following continuous synchronistic encounters with my dreams, my journals, my skill at tracing astrological patterns through time, and Jung’s archetypal exploration of the unconscious — in a transformed relationship with my own psyche and thus, with the world around me.

THE FIELD OF PEACE

I’m reminded also of the song I put up yesterday evening, the joyous uplift of thousands of voices singing open their hearts and souls. WE are the world. and WE are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

BOTH ARE NECESSARY. Both micro and macro. Both personal inner transformation, which results in a calming, joyous radiating glow that opens hearts and inspires courageous action, AND a geopolitical context and framing spacious enough to encourage recognition and dissolution of the root causes of war.
