Here Comes the Sun?

I now get word that a very close relative of mine, and a faithful New York Times reader for decades, has just announced: “The New York Times is too woke. No longer worth my time.”

What?

And: he used the word “woke”??!??

Hallelujah!

I’m reminded, somehow, of one morning back in 1969: my then husband Patrick, kids and I had been invited to  breakfast at another couple’s home. A few minutes after we walked in, “Here comes the sun” came on the radio. My usual shy persona suddenly dissolved and I started dancing.

I’m reminded of that morning now, because it signalled for me, the beginning of an enormous, life-changing transformation in my inner — and eventually outer — worlds.

May this dear relative of mine be blessed with the same.

”And you? My teacher looked up, his left eyebrow arched, pencil poised. 'I want to do a paper on the concept of time.’” I mumbled, timidly. 'Time?' He sniffed. “I wouldn’t touch the subject. Too difficult.” — AK, 1967
