Two phenomena illustrate this situation: 1) the front and center insane woke ideology, and 2) the lingering covid/vax horror show. Both encourage, or at least allow, false consciousness, lying, pretending. Without a reinvigoration of authenticity, our civilization is lost.

Here’s the first, from bad cattitude:

when only members get ahead, joining the club is what the ambitious do

once the attack is broad enough and powerful enough, societies submit and get with the program.

it’s the lesson of the 2020’s.

being smart is no proof against this and being ambitious may make the pressures worse.”

 

And here’s the second.

In both cases, whether it’s applicants lying about their “woke identity” in order to get accepted at what used to be an excellent college (and I imagine the same goes for those who apply to be professors) or doctors and nurses pretending the last four years of our (and their) lives are of no consequence.

Or maybe it’s just that the hive mind rules, always?
