Reflecting on the CHOSEN Death of my son Colin’s kitty

My older son Sean is visiting for a week, until Thursday noon. I told him I was very glad that he was here yesterday when my younger son (paralyzed and nerve-damanged) Colin’s kitty, about nine months old, needed help, fast.

Colin had called around 1 PM, as usual. We expected him to say that he was ready to go to lunch with us. Instead, the phone call was an emergency. Charley kitty was in great distress, a fact that had become more and more obvious over the previous 48 hours (although, Colin said, he seemed to be better yesterday afternoon).

So much so that we needed to get him emergency vet care immediately.

So that set up another one of my Uranian dramas, as transit Uranus, for the first time in my life, closes its first (and only) full 84 year cycle. Transit Uranus has now moved from conjuncting itself to forming a second ever conjunction with natal Saturn.

I’m speaking here astrologically, hoping that at least one new reader begins to make larger sense of his or her life via the lenses of various long-term cycles as described by the symbolic language of astrology, where each cycle, when it closes for the first time, both completes a long-term meaningful resonance of a certain kind, and begins again, hopefully having learned from the first time around.

And of course, the longer the cycle, the more meaningful . . .

For me, Uranus at 1+° and Saturn at 6+° were conjunct in airy, mental Gemini within five degrees at my birth, both of them also opposing Mars at 2+° of fiery, far-reaching Sagittarius. Moreover, all three of these planets occupied the 6th/12th house opposition of health and disease, both individual and collective.

For me, death has ALWAYS walked by my side. Ever since Hiroshima, which I was acutely aware of, at the age of two and a half.

Death came after a long, grinding ordeal yesterday, both for Colin’s kitty, and for Sean and myself, who had discovered an emergency and urgent care vet here in Bloomington.

Here’s an excerpt from yesterday evening’s caringbridge post, in case you are interested in the awful details.

Yes, burying Colin’s kitty had occurred exactly on top of my wonderful dog Shadow’s grave. Shadow was with me for 13 years, ever since he was two years old. My present dog Scampi (who looks like Shadow’s shadow, same size and color, but with longer legs, a more wiry body, and a spirited, rather than soulful presence) is now seven years old. Those long, springy, tiny-boned legs, that jump on and off my high bed with no problem . . . yet.

I wonder, of course, what I will do if and when Scampi breaks a bone. Assuming I take him to the vet, and pay for what would be a high expense out of my limited budget, what would be his prognosis, really? Would he even endure the time it took for his bone to heal? Would I, instead, just “put him down?”

Given my German heritage, images of Nazis crowd into my thoughts. Past lives dictating who lives and who dies?

Yes, these are the kinds of thoughts that have been invading me over the past 24 hours, as transit Uranus, proceeds ever so slowly, back and forth, towards its next full contact, natal Saturn. The sense of finality, “term limits,” future goals, discipline, decision-making, limitation, form — all these Saturnian descriptors and more were breathing down my neck, as I struggled to invoke the presence of trees on this early morning’s daily four-mile walk. stopping to hold onto the trunk of a massive 180 year old bur oak, invoking its mighty and spacious presence into my interior, no matter what.

No matter what the “future” brings. And we know that, given the present tumultuous currents on every level, involving the extraordinary geometric — ultimately, remember, harmonious! — sextile/trine configuration involving Uranus, Pluto, Neptune and, over the past few days joined by generous, lucky Jupiter conjunct the Sun in Leo! . . .

. . . which today is nearly exactly conjunct my own powerful death/rebirth natal Pluto at 6° Leo.

Come’on Ann, “level up!” your awareness. Move from 3D to 5D, which I have been doing for quite awhile, going back and forth. It’s time for 5D to take over. Period. Let ‘er rip!

Not just me, but everyone on earth. Let us learn to both occupy, and especially, notice, over and over again, moment to moment to moment — our awareness of the infinite spacious 5D presence with equanimity, as both individually and collectively we learn to expertly surf the roiling emotional waves of 3D .

”And you? My teacher looked up, his left eyebrow arched, pencil poised. 'I want to do a paper on the concept of time.’” I mumbled, timidly. 'Time?' He sniffed. “I wouldn’t touch the subject. Too difficult.” — AK, 1967
