  1. Happy Summer Solstice to you as well! I wanted to make a brief comment on one or two things you write about. MAGA. Make America Great Again. For me, America already is great and doesn’t need to be made great “again.” We have a system of laws and a Constitution. Everyone is subject to following the laws or they can get arrested. We have a system so that things will be orderly. Behavior is expected to be within certain guidelines – if it is extreme or outside the bounds of our laws, it can be challenged. People can get arrested if they break the laws. We have a system of laws to govern how people are supposed to act. Everyone has the right to a fair trial. We have to accept the verdict, and accept the consequences of our choices/actions – even if we don’t agree with it or like it. We even have the right to appeal decisions. —. Everyone, no matter which “side” one is on, or which perspective one has, has to abide by our Constitution as evidenced by our system of laws. That is what a Democracy is about, and why America is Great. – When people break the laws and expect to get away with it, that’s not right. We all are held accountable. – Facts are facts and not the singular prerogative of one party or another. – Facts can be proven. – It isn’t complicated. – And we have a system of how that happens. Everyone has to follow the same laws. – I would hope that all Americans would watch the hearings taking place for their own understanding of what happened on January 6. Listen to the facts. Compare what you are hearing with what you know about our Constitution and our laws. Remember that we are generally thought of to be a high morals nation. Remember what that means. Be kind. Be peaceful. Follow the laws. Violence is not part of an admirable culture, much less does it follow our guidelines for approved behavior – according to what most people believe. —- No one person has a corner on the truth. We are all individuals. But the one thing that we should all agree on is that no one can hear anyone when the din of yelling and hatred is so loud and the breaking of glass and breaking and entering is so forceful. When honest, hard-working police officers are trampled to death or killed in the process of yelling obscenities and violent rage from a huge crowd. —-That doesn’t fit into the definition of America being great! How can breaking the law ever be the answer when it goes against our Constitution and our laws? —. How can anyone looking at the videos from these hearings think that this is acceptable behavior, much less legal behavior? —. President Trump looked at the same videos everyone else did, on tv. I would like to think he would have been a great President during that time, but he wasn’t. He was absent in leading our nation. —. I do not think that is okay. At the time he was my President. I honored that. He deserved my honor. But sitting silent and taking no action to lead during those hours when the Capitol was being rioted against – this choice, to me, didn’t reflect someone who cared anything about making America great again. If President Trump cared about making America great again, why didn’t he speak up, speak out, why didn’t he lead? I don’t understand it. He made no public statement about his own Vice President. As a citizen of this great country, I am completely baffled by this. I am a patriot. I believe in the USA and its laws and its Constitution. My President, our President, didn’t do anything to try to help us out during that horrible time. —. I am sure at the time President Trump was doing a lot of good things as President. But not this. Dear God in Heaven, not this. —. And why would my President, who I honored and respected, not go by the laws in our country regarding the election in 2020? Why would he want to go outside the law by wanting his will and his opinion to be more important than the laws on the books and the rules that had to be followed in all states? —. We aren’t supposed to do this! This is anti-American! This does nothing to make America great again! —. I hope that if former President Trump does run again in 2024, he will adhere to the laws we all are supposed to follow. I hope that the tendency to curse and overlook hatred and violence and indeed to praise people who behave with hatred and violence, is done away with. I hope with all my heart and soul, and I am praying with all my heart – that if former President Trump decides to run again he will turn over a new leaf in his verbal communications and behaviors. America is not a nation where behavior one would not accept from a toddler should be accepted in a President of the United States. I might not always agree with any President we had at the time, but I would unequivocally always want the President to be a gentleman in their behavior for the most part, someone people could look up to with pride in how they comported themselves. No matter if I agreed or disagreed with any President, that is important to me. It goes far beyond which party one belongs to. —. I don’t just want a President who knows a lot about business and finance. I don’t just want a President who is magnetic and captivating. I want to believe my President, and I want to believe IN my President. It would take a lot for me to gain trust of former President Trump, after what he did and also did not do regarding the election of 2020, and the attack on the Capital January 6, 2021. I look forward to seeing if former President Trump can rehabilitate himself in my eyes and become someone I can respect, regardless of how much I agree or disagree with him on issues. I pray for him and for the Republican Party to be what they used to be and certainly could be again.

    1. Thanks Maude, for your impassioned response. I’m sure that anyone who views things as you do, and is a person of principled character, would come to the same conclusions. You hit on many issues which many of us were, and are still, troubled by, and some of them have led me, for one, to look further, deeper, to see what is or was really going on. The search continues!
